Blocked Drains and Tree Roots in Older Lilydale Streets

A lot of Lilydale's established streets were built when terracotta clay sewer pipes were the standard. Combined with the mature trees around the older parts of town, this is a recipe for tree-root intrusion. Roots find their way into the smallest joint, then keep growing until water can't pass.
