Ringwood is a major regional hub, anchored by the Eastland shopping centre and a large transport interchange, with a real mix of housing around it. From older established homes through to the wave of newer apartments and townhouses from recent redevelopment, the pipework here spans many different eras. The plumbing problems we see vary a lot depending on the street, the age of the property and what's been touched over the years. Blocked Drains and Tree Roots in Older Ringwood Streets

A lot of Ringwood's established streets were built when terracotta clay sewer pipes were the standard. Combined with the area's mature trees, this is a recipe for tree-root intrusion. Roots find their way into the smallest joint, then keep growing until water can't pass. Newer townhouse developments can block too, often from build-up or items that should never go down a drain.

Rather than just snaking the line and hoping for the best, we run a CCTV camera through the drain to confirm exactly where the blockage is and what's causing it. Ringwood has a high concentration of hot water systems that are at or past their replacement age. Most tanks last 10 to 15 years, and a lot of the systems we see were installed years ago and are due. Common signs we get called for include slow recovery, rusty water from the hot taps, leaks at the base of the tank, or systems that have simply stopped heating. Newer apartments often run compact gas or electric units with their own quirks.

Leaks and Pipe Failure Across Different Eras of Ringwood Housing

Older Ringwood homes often still have sections of the original galvanised steel water pipe. After 40 to 50 years these pipes corrode internally, which causes pressure drops, rusty water and eventually pinhole leaks behind walls or in slabs. In newer townhouses and apartments the issues are different, often failed flexible hoses, fittings or appliance connections that let go without warning.
